Two days ago, attended Singapore design festival 2009 with my DI calss mates
well, of course i had fun
i dont think im very good with words
so ill let the pictures do the talking instead=D

CCC CHARACTER FESTIVAL:
Who says guys dont like cute stuff?
the answer is actually we do=D

There were many sections in this design fest,
this one is my favourite,Cartoon Characters

Ive always wanted to do anime drawing
but god is always unfair, i must say im not gifted with a good pair of hands=/
so i can only appreciate the designs
anyway, these are some of the cartoon characters which i found really cute:

This one would be leafmanThis one is my favourite among the 3, random pink ball named maru

Also from the same, showroom as well, we have:
Sun Wu Kong(damn cool=D)

The tree house below, is a 3d figure where u can not only see but touch
it some how reminds me of lego, which i used to play when i was young
building castles and stuff
just that this is so much more complicated and alot of thought process was put into it

Its made of Candy wrappers, joined together to form a bag

Too bad its going for $499=/
Found this phrase painted on the wall of the exhibition
I thought it would be really interesting if our ears had lids?=D

Beyond typography:

Love this place, what makes it so special is that all the lights are turned off
In front of every artpiece there will be a torchlight dangling down from the top
and to get the real meaining ure supposed to use the torch to shine on the art piece,
every piece has a different meaning to it.

Ha, i suppose u guys cant really read this,
It says:"Queueing for mrt is vey sianz when kiasu poeple just block exit doors"

as u all know and for those who dont know, im taking DI as my elective

hmm... alot of my friends asked me why i chose DMC as my course
well, im too sure either, but what im sure now is i wanna go for the advertising line.

A question to ask: So many advertisements youve seen on newspapers, magazines, tv etc but which one actually managed to catch your attention, and out of those which caught your attention, how many can you actually remember?
advertising is never easy..

i was reading this reading this piece of material few hours ago
very geeky title: "How to win the battle of the buzz- Street Smart Advertising"
sounds cool yea?=D
Anyway, this is an article about how to make your advertisement stand out as compared to others.

A segment which is about being on target and on strategy caught my eye
Wonder if u guys still remember the dove advertisement where they had models of various sizes to advertise for them. That campaign was so effective that their sales and the company's brand image went up.

This makes me think,Sometimes when im given a class assignment to come up with an advertisement, ill get so stressed out as i can't think of a good idea and i'll start wondering how do these people come up with these ads, which can get so much attention. After reading the article i realised that in order to connect with audience and get their attention, you must say how they say and feel what they feel.

So when coming up with advertisements, you must put yourself in the consumers shoes,
think of what they would want to see and what they need.

Hope that next time when i come up with an advertisement, ill not just think of how to reach out to the audience and instead think of what the customers would want to see and what would make them feel attatched to the advertisement.

went to sing karaoke at marsiling, after listening too much of eng songs, i started to find out how much i miss chinese songs=/
